However, after living there for 1 year, I want to reassure you that, South Africa can be explored in complete safety. As with any destination, it’s important to take precautions and use common sense. The main tourist centers and popular destinations are generally safe for visitors. Rural areas and national parks are particularly safe and offer unforgettable travel experiences. It’s best to avoid townships and less-frequented areas without a local guide, and to avoid walking alone at night or leaving valuables in plain sight.
